Following on from the global success of the UX Book Club -- now operating globally in over 80 locations -- this session mimics the discussion format in use by many of the regional groups. Attendees are asked to read Adam Greenfield's "Everyware: The Dawning Age of Ubiquitous Computing" and Bruce Sterling's "Shaping Things" and will engage in a discussion around "Interaction design for ambient technology."
The focus of the session will be on engaging in a peer-to-peer discussion of the topic in an unmoderated form -- as has proven popular with UX Book Club attendees around the world. Session coordinators (to be announced) will roam the room, assisting with the discussion and providing input as necessary. The session will close with a short wrap-up of major themes explored from around the room.
Join us for a one-night recruiting event for interaction and UX professionals at the 2011 IxDA Interaction conference. Learn more at: http://www.coroflot.com/connects/
UX Show and Tell is the workshop that’s all about your work. Join us for lunch and help your fellow designers from across the globe address design problems or learn new approaches to your design process. Participants can share documentation, prototypes, mockups, and fully functional products in varying degrees of completion, or not show anything at all and provide helpful critique.
We’ll also spend a few moments discussing how you can organize UX Show and Tell events in your community long after Interaction11. Instructions to reserve a time to share work will be available prior to the conference.
With the launch of EpicMix in November, Vail Resorts and Crispin Porter + Bogusky have re-imagined and re-invented the skiing experience. In celebration of this, CP+B will host two day trips for IxDA participants to experience this revolutionary new system and dialogue with its creators.
With EpicMix, all your activity on the slopes is automatically captured and uploaded to your EpicMix dashboard. Now you can follow your days skied, track your vertical feet, see where you rode, earn EpicMix pins for your achievements, and collect points. But that’s not all. You can also connect through the web or over your mobile device with your social networks like Facebook and Twitter to share your ski days, stats, pins and points with friends on and off the mountain. All this is possible because of Radio Frequency scanners at the base of every lift, and RF technology built into every Vail Resorts season pass, and PEAKS lift ticket.
The bus ride up will dive into the details and background of the EpicMix system as well as an exploration of other related CP+B projects. After a day of skiing, the ride home will feature a group brainstorm with CP+B and Vail reps around the experience and ways to make it better.
